The island, 12km perimeter, attracts many tourists during the summer for diving, beach activities, and even onsen.

The access – the fastest way is take a plane from Chofu Airport (located 20km west of Shinjuku) to neighboring Nijima Island, then take a ferry. The total journey is about 60 minutes. The most common route is a jetfoil from Takeshiba Pier. The trip is 2.5-3.5 hours.
