Owner of Hong Kong Airlines Purchased USD 47M Condo in NYC

Two big names are tying knot now. One of the most lavish condominium units was sold to a Chinese magnate for USD 47.4 million.

One57‘s unit was purchased by Guoqing Chen, co-founder of HNA Group, The Real Deal Reported. HNA Group owns several airlines, including Hainan Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines and Hong kong Express. According to a record, Mr. Chen purchased a 6,200 SQF whole floor unit with 4 bedroom/4 bathroom. The original asking price was USD 46.5 million.

One57 was developed by Extell Development Company and it is the second tallest apartment complex in New York City. It has been known for its price – the offering price was between USD 3.1 million to USD 115 million. The building is also a home of Park Hyatt New York – occupying the bottom section.

Other notable buyers of One57 includes Lawrence Stroll and Silas Chou, owners of Michael Kors. It is speculated that each of them paid around USD 50 million for 5,000 SQF unit.
