Tokyo Plans to Add 6,000 Residential Units After the Olympic Games

Tokyo is planning to offer 6,000 new residential units to the site Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic athletes’ quarters.

Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic is known for its compactness – most of the Game-related facilities are to be located within 8km radius of athlete’s quarters. (Marked on 38 below) The quarter is planned in Harumi, a waterfront area of Tokyo and a neighbor of famous Tsukiji Fish Market.

The new development will be a home of 10,000 residents and it will be comprised from 22 14-17 story condominiums, 2 50 story high rise condominiums, 4 story shopping mall and school. The high rises and shopping mall will be developed after the Game.

Over the last two decades, Bayfront area of Tokyo saw development of high rise condominium complexes, creating a huge influx of population. Harumi is a part of Chuo ward and its population has been on rise for the last 16 years – the area is so far prone to population plateau of Japan.chuo-ku population
